Your AI assistant can tell you the exact year Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon. Ask it what devices are currently offline in your network? Blank stare. This is not a bug. It is architecture. The training data problem LLMs are trained on the public internet — Wikipedia, Stack Overflow, GitHub, books, papers. Ancient Rome is well-documented. Your internal database is not. This means your AI has deep knowledge about everything except the thing you actually care about: your own systems, your clients, your infrastructure state. And most teams accept this as a limitation. They use AI for writing and coding, and keep their databases separate — queried only by humans who know SQL, or by dashboards someone built two years ago and nobody touches.
